FAQ About Abortions in 2023

Women have abortions for many reasons that are personal to them. At GYN Choices of Central Jersey, the reason doesn’t matter. We provide women with two abortion options that are safe, effective, and kept fully confidential.

Why Do Women Have Abortions?

While there are many reasons women may decide to have an abortion, here are some more common reasons:

  • not ready or wanting to become a parent
  • not wanting to raise a child with the other person involved
  • being fully committed to work or schools
  • having specific goals that don’t align with having a baby
  • already have kids and don’t want another
  • being sexually assaulted, which resulted in becoming pregnant
  • having a health issue that could cause a dangerous pregnancy

Will My Abortion Be Kept a Secret?

GYN Choices of Jersey guarantees complete confidentiality regarding your abortion services. We can assure you that we will not contact your partner or your parents about your abortion. Your personal information will not be released to anyone but you and is stored only in our clinic.

Who Can Get an Abortion?

We can perform surgical abortions on women less than 13 weeks along, even if they have health conditions. However, it is essential to note that we will not be able to perform a medical abortion, if you are on blood thinners or have a bleeding disorder, have problems with your liver or kidneys, have an ectopic pregnancy, or any other serious health issues.

What Are the Different Types of Abortions?

There are two different types of abortions, medical and surgical. GYN Choices offers both abortion options to those who qualify. Medical abortions are non-surgical and use two types of medications to terminate the pregnancy. This type of abortion can be done if you are less than ten weeks along.

Surgical abortions are a quick and safe way to terminate your pregnancy. It is done by gently suctioning your uterus and is usually done within five minutes. You can get a surgical abortion anywhere between 5 to 12 weeks along.
